Labyrinth Technologies Deploys SMART Infrastructure

Work Begins on Deploying 135 Lights as Part of Project #LightMySTL Demonstration

Labyrinth Technologies is underway with deploying a hundred and thirty-five state-of-the-art SMART Infrastructure street lights on Market Street in Downtown St. Louis as part of a $400,000 demonstration project for Project #LightMyStL.

“We are excited to get underway with the installation process,” said Ted Stegeman, CEO of Labyrinth Technologies. “We expect our work to be completed by the end of the year, hopefully before the holidays if we don’t run into any delays with weather or unforeseen circumstances.”

The demonstration project is the culmination of a two-year civic process led by community volunteers with Downtown STL Inc. to make downtown St. Louis safer, smarter and more beautiful by deploying a unique lighting system that features a color strip that is capable of changing colors to help brand downtown.

While the public will likely notice the colored light bar reminiscent of a light saber that adorns the arm of the cobra fixtures, it is the unique communication technology and functional qualities of the lighting system that has Labyrinth’s new customers most excited.

Thanks to an inclusive process that involved input from downtown residents and businesses, law enforcement, city officials and lighting experts, the customized lighting system illuminates both the street and sidewalk making it safer for both pedestrians and drivers.
