Labyrinth Demos 2nd Generation Technology for #LightMySTL

Tunable Streetlights that Can Be Powered Up to Daylight Levels on Command and Fully Addressable Chroma LED Strips Capable of Multiple Light Patterns Wow Potential Funders

On a rainy Saturday night in St. Louis, as the St. Louis Blues battled the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Enterprise Center, John and Ted Stegeman stood along Clark Street readying a demonstration as they dodged rain drops.

“It is really amazing technology,” Ted Stegeman, the CEO of Labyrinth Technologies said. “It goes beyond the vision our customers outlined to us, while better enabling our customers to achieve their goals of a safer, smarter and more beautiful city.”

Labyrinth organized the demonstration at the request of Bob O’Loughlin, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LHM, who is chairing Project #LightMySTL’s fundraising efforts, and Bill DeWitt, the President of the St. Louis Cardinals and project donor.

In preparation for the demonstration, Labyrinth retrofitted three cobra street lights along Clark Street behind the U.S. Post Office between the Enterprise Center and Union Station.

The three streetlights featured the latest technology Labyrinth Technologies developed for Project #LightMySTL, the civic volunteer driven effort to make downtown St. Louis safer, smarter and more beautiful through SMART lighting technology.

The 2nd generation technology features a new Luminaire that in addition to having Dual Zone LED optics capable of lighting the street and sidewalk separately, now includes the first-of-its-kind patented technology that allows you to individually control the intensity of the light by zone.

That means the illumination intensity of the sidewalk and roadway can be varied independently. It can also be powered up to daylight levels on command. The light can be powered all the way up to 300W, while the color temperature can be configured from 3500K to 6500K. No other Luminaire on the market today has this technology.

The patented tunable light was developed as a result of conversations with law enforcement officials who like the ability to increase lighting for safety.

Officials from the Blues who watched the demonstration immediately saw the advantage of being able to power up streetlights as fans arrive or leave the game.

Perhaps the element that excited the Project #LightMySTL supporters the most that night was the new Chroma Addressable LED Strip, a beautiful, six-foot-long pixel addressable RGB that is capable of displaying trillions of vibrant color combinations, patterns, and animations.

The flexible, waterproof strip wowed the crowd that gathered in the rain that night to witness a small light show that is a preview of what the gateway city in the Show Me State will look like following a successful full deployment of Labyrinth Technology for Project #LightMySTL.
