$4.6 Million #LightMySTL Project Moves Forward

Full Deployment of 2,500 Lights Over 360 Square Blocks Will Form One of the Largest SMART City Networks In North America

Missy Kelley, the CEO of Downtown STL Inc., announced that the Downtown Foundation is moving forward with a $4.6 million streetlight deployment effort to upgrade the network of approximately 2,500 cobra streetlights throughout a 360 square block area in downtown St. Louis as part of Project #LightMySTL.

Kelley made the announcement at the Downtown STL Inc. Annual Meeting in conjunction with presenting Labyrinth Technologies the Vince Bommarito Award for their innovation and leadership with Project #LightMySTL.

Bob O’Loughlin, the CEO of Lodging Hospitality Management is helping lead the #LightMySTL fundraising effort.

“I’ve committed a substantial amount to it personally because I think it is a really good initiative,” O’Loughlin told the St. Louis Business Journal.

“We expect to begin installing lights by the end of the year,” said Ted Stegeman, CEO of Labyrinth Technologies. “We are excited to deploy this next generation system as it will be a real game changer for downtown St. Louis.”

#LightMyStL has been a volunteer, community driven initiative to make downtown St. Louis safer through the deployment of state-of-the-art SMART infrastructure.

After winning the #LightMySTL Show Me Design Challenge & RFI (Request for Information) in late 2015 and early 2016, Labyrinth Technologies was hired to undertake a highly successful $400,000 Market Street Demonstration project (November 2017- April 2018).

During the fall of 2017, Labyrinth Technologies deployed 135 lights along Market Street from the Gateway Arch grounds to Jefferson Avenue.

The year and half long demonstration proved to be very successful, prompting civic leaders to rally around the idea of deploying the next generation system throughout downtown St. Louis.

Work commences later this year and is expected to be wrapped up some time in 2021.
